The Kookaburras Tokyo campaign ended in heartbreak with a penalty shootout required to split Australia and Belgium in the gold medal game. In another heartbreaking result the Sam Kerr lead Matildas went down fighting in the bronze medal game to the United States. Meanwhile Declan Tingay impressed in his Olympic debut finishing an impressive 17th in the 20km walk in a new personal best time.
