Western Australia is already home to incredible Paralympic talent. The new WAIS Para Unit ensures we find and support the next generation of champions.
A turning point for Para sport in WA
The WAIS Para Unit is a bold new initiative launched in May 2025, that will:
- Open doors to high performance sport for more Western Australians with a disability
- Nurture talent through to elite competition
- Remove systemic barriers through coordinated, inclusive programs
- Create fit-for-purpose training environments and support systems
- Strengthen community connections and inspire the next generation.
A national vision – Para Sport Uplift
This initiative is powered by a significant funding commitment to Paralympic sport in Australia – through the Para Sport Uplift by the Australian Government, via AIS and Paralympics Australia.
