A Successful Start for Boaden and Harrison

Western Australian sailors, Russell Boaden and Colin Harrison, have had an exceptional start to their Paralympic campaign finishing day one of the Three-Person Sonar competition in first place.

The pair competed alongside teammate Jonathon Harris in two races with their combined results amounting to a first place overall ranking at the end of the day.

Stamping their authority right from Race 1, the trio showed their skill and experience with a first place finish, completing the course in 59:21.

Come Race 2 the Australians were able to maintain their strong form, coming second by a mere nine seconds.

Their performances meant that they were the only country to finish in the top three for both races.

The performance of the trio is testament to the effort which they have put in leading into the Games.

In recent competition, the crew has won two World Cup gold medals in 2015 and an additional silver medal earlier this year.

Boaden and Harrison will be looking to improve on their results from Beijing 2008 where they won the bronze medal.

The Three-Person Sonar crew will next compete in Races 3 and 4 which are scheduled to take place tonight.
