The Australian women’s artistic gymnastics team have missed entry for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games after finishing 14th in the teams qualification at the 2015 World Championships in Glasgow.

With only the top eight nations guaranteed qualification for the Olympics, the Australians have left the door ajar for entry by gaining selection for next year’s Rio Test event, which will provide a further four nations with qualification.

WAIS athlete Emily Little competed for Australia, marking her first senior appearance at a major event, since the 2012 London Olympics.

Little impressed on vault, returning a 14.800 as Australia amassed 56.600 for the apparatus, as part of a total of 214.812 for the girls.

The 21 year-old also produced scores of 13.166 on Beam and 13.233 on Floor in a solid international return.

Madelaine Leydin led the way in All Around scores for the Australians, fetching 53.649 across the four apparatus, whilst Georgia Godwin (53.132) and Kiara Munteanu (52.265) were also contributors across each apparatus for the Aussies.
