WAIS athlete Laura Coles has finished 53rd at the 2015 World Shotgun Championships in Lonato, Italy over the weekend.
Coles – a gold medallist at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games – was the only Australian representative in the women’s skeet, shooting 62 out of 75 targets to miss a place in the finals by ten shots.
Gold went to American shooter Morgan Craft, who produced an impressive campaign to hit 107 of 111 targets for victory.

Women’s Trap
Laetisha Scanlan has just missed out on a medal in the women’s trap at the 2015 Shotgun World Championships in Lonato, Italy.
Scanlan made it through to the latter stages of the competition after shooting 70 of a possible 75 targets in the qualification rounds.
In the 15 shot semi-final she missed three of her first five targets and eventually scored ten.
With the top two progressing to the gold medal shoot off and third and fourth shooting off for bronze, Scanlan missed out on chance for a medal by one shot. Fatima Galvez of Spain won the gold.
Fellow Australians, Emma Cox and Catherine Skinner finished 32nd and 37th respectively.
Men’s Trap
In the men’s trap Athens 2004 bronze medallist Adam Vella finished 38th after shooting 115 out of a possible 125 targets.
Dual Olympic gold medallist Michael Diamond finished back in 71st with a score of 113.
