Day 7 with WAIS in London

I do hope you’re all getting a sufficient enough amount of time to watch the games. I also hope channel nine and Foxtel are showing good coverage of the games.

Day six was a big day for our WAIS athletes.

Hagan and Vermeersch helped the woman’s eight rowing finish sixth. From a team that wasn’t expected to qualify, to end up sixth is a huge achievement and a good effort to a battle against the odds.

Emily little finished 15th in the individual all around competition in women’s gymnastics, her vault being her best event scoring a huge 14.866. Little is the only Australian gymnast to compete a Yuchenko double twisting vault at these London Games.

The men’s water polo fell to Spain 9-13 but our women’s hockey team triumphed over the USA with a 1-0 win.

Sunderland and his team qualified into the team sprint finals in cycling with a time of 43.261 but just fell short of Germany in the finals to end up fourth.

Sally Foster ended up finishing 8th in her 200m Breaststroke final bettering her 9th place finish in Beijing.

Now onto the 7th day of the games, keep your eyes out for our following WAIS athletes representing Australia.

The Stingers will take on Russia and the Men’s hockey will verse Argentina.

Melissa Hoskins and Josephine Tomic will join in on the action in the team pursuit in cycling.

Also starting on day 7 is our 470 sailing pair Elise Rechichi and Belinda Stowell. This is Belinda’s third Olympics, having been to Sydney and Athens and giving up after Athens. Elise is one half of the gold medal winning pair from Beijing and I would keep an eye out for this pair in London, because it’s one of talent and experience.
