Day Two Produces More Champions

WAIS Juniors Sam Welsford and Tian Beckett both claim victoriesat the2013Subaru Cycling Australia Track National Championships held atSydney’s Dunc Gray Velodrome.

Welsford claimed the under 19 men’s 25km points race title with 42 points,with major credit going to Brendon Meney and Luke Vitler for support roles.

“I’m over the moon,” Welsford remarked. “I didn’t expect this at all. I didn’t come in here expecting to win, as a first year I planned on learning what I can, but I just had the perfect race.

“I had to do two team pursuits today and my legs are really sore, but I recovered well, hydrated well and I am just so happy.

“This is one of the happiest racing moments I have ever had,” Welsford gasped.

Beckett also became a national title holder in the time trial event.

Kelsey Robson came fourth in the points race, with Elissa Wundersitz riding extremely well considering she missed the break to finish fifth.

Isabella King placed fourth in the individual pursuit and both Madie Law and Luke Zaccaria riding on and close to their Personal best times.
