WAIS scholarship holder Clayton Fredericks has continued his recent strong equestrian competition form with a fifth placed finish in the Luhmühlen 2011 РCCI 4* in Germany.

The Beijing Olympian rode mount Dunges Laurent Rose for a final score of 47.20, which has qualified a third horse from his stable for Olympic selection at next year’s London Games. Having qualified three mounts, Fredericks appears a solid chance to add a 2012 Olympic appearance to his silver medal success in China.

Fredericks finished behind the German trio of Andreas Dibowski (39.80), Sandra Auffarth (43.00) and Frank Ostholt (46.10) as well as the artfully named Piggy French of Great Britain, who competed on Flying Machine for fourth position (46.40).

UK based Fredericks will next compete in the London Test event from July 4-6 on prized mount Bendigo, on which he recently won the prestigious Saumur event in France.

“Dunges Laurent Rose” becomes the third horse Fredericks has qualified for Olympic competition following “Be My Guest” and “Bendigo”.
