WAIS athletes Clayton and Lucinda Fredericks have produced stunning dressage performances on the first day of competition in the equestrian eventing.Lucinda Fredericks: scored a rare perfect ten.

Clayton Fredericks was the first to perform and completed a strong routine on his horse “Ben Along Time” with a score of 37.00 penalties.

Fredericks’ wife Lucinda then took centre stage by scoring an extremely rare perfect ten ona flying change canter across the diagonal. Lucinda Fredericks completed with a final score of 30.40 penalties.

Lucinda punched the air to wild applause after the finish and was quick to praise her horse “Headley Britannia” for the great ride.

“While she (Headley Britannia) is little, she is actually quite easy to manoeuvre around the arena, you can really count her strides,” she said.

“She just stayed in front of me as much as she can. She’s not flash, she’s not a big smart mover, but she’s very correct.”

The combined Fredericks’ score puts Australia in the lead halfway through the dressage component of the eventing.

Sonja Johnson and Shane Rose will contest their dressage component tomorrow.
