Western Australian Institute of Sport equestrian rider Clayton Fredericks enjoyed a successful first competition for 2009 in Portugal earlier this month, claiming three placings on three different horses.
Fredericks, who teamed with his wife Lucinda and fellow WAIS rider Sonja Johnson to win a silver medal in the team eventing in Beijing, took part in the CIC Barroca D’Alva event over the first weekend in March and posted a series of strong results.
In the CIC2** class Fredericks claimed both first and second place. On Mr Miller the 41-year old claimed first place with an overall score of 51.6 (47.6 dressage, 0 cross-country and 4 jumping) while on The Frog he took second place with an overall score of 52 (52 dressage, 0 cross-country and 0 jumping).
The Olympic silver medallist also managed fourth place on Bendigo in the CIC* class and 10th place on Dunges Laurent Rose in the CIC2** class.
