The Australian Rhythmic Gymnastics team has missed out on the medals in the team final on day one of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Coming into competition, Australia was defending champion, but featured only one member of the victorious team from Delhi 2010, in the form of Queenslander Danielle Prince.

Western Australian Amy Quinn made her Commonwealth Games debut in what was also her first senior Australian team appearance. At 16, she was the youngest member of the Australian team.

Quinn produced her brightest display in the ball rotation, scoring 12.725, to go with totals of 11.050 on hoop, 10.600 on clubs and 11.600 with ribbon.

Australia’s team total of 126.725 was good enough for fifth place, with gold going to Canada (141.450), whilst Wales (136.625) and Malaysia (135.825) rounded out the medals.
