The Hockeyroos have continued their perfect start in the women’s hockey tournament after a comfortable 3-0 win over South Africa last night in Beijing.

West Australian’s Kim Walker, Kobie McGurk, Emily Halliday, Hope Munro and Shelley Liddelow all featured as Australia celebrated Nicky Hudson’s 300th game in style.

Hudson scored Australia’s first goal of the match to register the strikers 99th career goal, a fitting result for the 15 year veteran, playing in her third Olympic campaign.

Australia protected a 1-0 lead to half time and wasted little time in stretching their advantage in the second stanza with Angie Lambert slotting in a penalty stroke in the 44th minute.

Casey Eastham made sure of an Australian victory by adding a third goal in the 68th minute to complete a strong performance by the fourth ranked Hockeyroos.
