Trampoline gymnast Eva Kierath has won silver competing at the 2019 Baku World Cup event in Azerbaijan.

Her success came in the women’s synchro event, with Kierath partnering Kira Ward for second place.

They finished behind the Belarussian pairing of Valiantsina Bahamolava and Anhelina Khatsian with Brazil’s Camila Gomes and Alice Gomes in third.

It was Kierath’s first World Cup outing since she collected silver in Japan at the Maebashi World Cup meet in August 2018.

Kierath will attempt to make history in Tokyo 2020, where if she successfully gains selection onto the Australian Olympic Team, she would become the first Western Australian to represent her country in the discipline at Olympic level.

At the Tokyo Olympic Games, only individual events for men’s and women’s will be contested, meaning there is no synchronised events in the competition roster.

Trampolining as an Olympic event, first gained elevation at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. In competition, athletes are required to perform acrobatic combinations and are scored on difficulty and total seconds spent in the air.
