WA gymnast Eva Kierath has claimed a silver medal at the Maebashi Trampoline World Cup in Japan.

Competing with New South Wales’ Kira Ward, the pair put on an impressive performance to earn a podium sport against an international class field.

The quality of their finals routine was underpinned by their earlier impressive effort to qualify for the final in eighth place.

The fact that the duo could find more in reserve for the final to take a silver medal at World Cup level is a significant achievement for the Australian team and coaching staff.

Australia sent a team of six athletes for competition, with Kierath and Ward the only athletes to advance to a final.

Kierath also returned the best individual effort in Japan, registering a score of 101.660 points for 13th place in the women’s individual competition.

Dominic Clarke (15th) and Claire Arthur (20th) held the next best individual Australian ranking in the men’s and women’s competitions respectively.
