Emerging WAIS trampolinist Eva Kierath has competed at the Aere Trampoline World Cup in Brescia, Italy recording a 27th position finish.

The 21 year-old fresh from a national championship win at the recent Australian Gymnastics titles in Melbourne, competed against a strong international field and applied herself impressively in producing two solid routines in qualifying, for an overall score of 91,470.

Kierath’s total was good enough for 27th place overall, with fellow Australians Claire Arthur and Lauren Sampson finishing 23rd and 26th respectively.

In the women’s final, (in which contestants perform a single routine) China’s Dan Li claimed gold after fetching a score of 56,975 to finish ahead of Russia’s Yana Pavlova (55,525) and countrywoman Xingping Zhong (55,400).

Kierath, a resident of City Beach, was one of six Australian contestants on World Cup duty in Italy, with the team headlined by Rio-bound Olympian Blake Gaudry – who finished 13th in the men’s individual field.

Kierath and the Australian team next move onto Switzerland for the following leg of the World Cup series this weekend.
