Lauren Mitchell Heading for World Cup

WAIS gymnast Lauren Mitchell has been extended an invitation to compete in the gymnastics world cup final which is to be held in Madrid, Spain later this month.

Mitchell will leave Perth on Tuesday December 9 to compete in the balance beam apparatus final where she will come up against some of the world’s best gymnasts. The beam final is scheduled for Sunday December 14.

Mitchell will be accompanied by her Coach Martine George in Spain, capping off what has been a whirlwind but successful four weeks for Mitchell, with the 17 year-old having won a host of medals at recent European competition meets.

Mitchell was also a member of the Australian women’s artistic gymnastics squad which finished sixth in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
