Little Crowned World Cup Series Floor Champion

Despite an eventful 2016-2018 series, Western Australia’s Emily Little has claimed gold in the floor competition of the International Gymnastics Federation’s Individual Apparatus World Cup Series.

After suffering a knee injury at the 2017 Australia Gymnastics Championships, ruling her out for the entire second year of the Series, Little’s chances of claiming a podium finish were slipping from her grasp.

As the result of a strong first year which saw Little reach the podium in the first four events of the Series she was able to hold on to her lead for 13 months, eventually being named Floor Champion with a 30-point buffer on second place.

In addition to her achievement on the floor Emily was also able to claim podium finishes on the vault and the balance beam where she finished second and third respectively.

“I’m extremely happy and honoured to win the World Cup Series for Floor,” said the gymnast.

“It hasn’t been the easiest year for me as I have been dealing with an injury, so to come out with a win feels really special to me.”

Emily Little was one of many Australian gymnasts to achieve success in the World Cup Series with a total of nine Australians finishing within the top ten on the various apparatus.
