Little Fifth at Anadia World Cup

WA gymnast and Olympic reserve Emily Little has completed a successful campaign in Portugal, fetching two fifth place finishes at the Anadia World Cup.

Little was fifth in the final of both the Vault and Floor apparatus, whilst her WA colleague Lauren Mitchell, qualified for the Beam final, before withdrawing with a calf complaint.

A 2016 national champion on Vault, Little showed plenty of the poise that earned her that title in Melbourne, last May – scoring 14.175 in qualifying, before increasing her routine to earn 14.600 in the final, which kept her in fifth position.

Mitchell, competing in her first international event since returning from a knee injury, scored 13.750 in qualifying for the Beam final, but unfortunately suffered a calf niggle, which prevented her from contesting the final.

Little returned to action in the Floor final and scored 13.550 following a solid routine, which elevated her to fifth, after she’d earlier qualifying for the final in seventh.

Young Queenslander Rianna Mizzen produced the highlight of the campaign for the Australian team, winning the Un-even Bars with a score of 14.500 on her World Cup Challenge debut, whilst Rio bound gymnast Larrissa Miller – withdrew from competition on bars due to illness, before returning to compete on Floor, finishing 10th.
