Little Gets Timely Boost

Anthony Little in action in AthensWestern Australian Institute of Sport boxer Anthony Little recieved a timely boost last night with news that reigning lightweight world champion Frankie Gavin has withdrawn from the Olympic boxing tournament.

The Englishman withdrew from the Games on Thursday night after realising that he will not make the required weight to compete in the 60kg class.

Little, who made it through it the round of 16 in his debut Olympics in Athens four years ago, will now enter his first bout on Monday brimming with confidence that his second Olympic appearance could result in a medal following Gavin’s withdrawal.

The Geraldton product’s build up to Beijing has been impeccable   with the 27-year old recently winning the Chemistry Cup in Germany. His first bout is scheduled to be broadcast on Channel 7 from 10pm Monday night.
