Little Stars at Heerenveen Open

WAIS gymnast Emily Little achieved a personal best whilst competing at the Heerenveen Open in the Netherlands last Sunday.

The Australian Olympic reserve for Rio stayed in Europe following last month’s world cup competition in Portugal and set a new personal best on Vault in Heerenveen, after scoring 15.200 to top the competition rankings.

Little was not eligible to win the competition on account of the tournament coinciding with the Dutch Olympic selection trials but the 22 year-old showed that she was in top form, with her effort in Heerenveen fetching just 0.60 in execution deductions.

Coach Martine George thanked their hosts, saying, “Big thanks to the coaches and gymnasts, who during what is a pretty stressful time in their preparations, showed us great kindness and support,”

Emily Little shared her impressive vault via Instagram, with the clip attracting more than 1500 views.

Little will finalise her role as reserve for the Australian Olympic Team, before making a visit to the International Gymnastics Camp where she will work with seven time Olympian and vault specialist Oksana Chusovitina.
