WAIS gymnast Emily Little won the Australian Youth Olympic Festival gold medal in the women’s vault apparatus final in Sydney this weekend.

Little produced a standout routine to score 14.700 ahead of fellow Australian Britt Greeley (14.450) and Japan’s Yoshino Taniguchi (14.150).

Little backed up her fine vault performance with a solid display in the all-around competition finishing fourth.

WAIS Head of Gymnastics Liz Chetkovich believes Little can now draw the confidence to take her performances to the next level.

“It was a great result for Emily, she really did perform to her maximum,” she said. “We now look forward to seeing her elevate that performance to the next level of competition.”

Marangaroo resident Natalia Joura also competed at the AYOF in Sydney earning a 15th place finish in the women’s individual all-around competition. Joura featured in the Beam and Floor finals placing eighth and seventh respectively.
