Meyer Targets Return to London Six-Day Event

Track World Champion Cam Meyer has announced he will return for the 2017 edition of the London Six-Day track event.

Meyer will team with fellow Madison world championship silver medallist Callum Scotson in London later this year for their second consecutive campaign, after the pair claimed a bronze medal at last year’s event.

Set to be held between October 24-29 at the Lee Valley VeloPark, Meyer said the six-day format had captured his and the public’s imagination in 2016.

“The excitement of the racing, and also the organisation – it was a great event in that it was so well organised, the public really liked it and it just had so much excitement behind it – all contributed to us deciding to race again this year,” the 29-year-old said.

“It was great racing and for us as riders there was no reason not to want to come again.”

Meyer won two world championship titles in Hong Kong in addition to his Madison silver and he recently confirmed that he will return to pro tour racing on the road with Orica-Scott in addition to his track ambitions towards the Tokyo 2020 Games.

“I had a good track season, which then contributed to having some interest from the WorldTour teams and eventually being able to sign with Orica-Scott.

“They’re on board with allowing me to pursue my dreams on both track and road, and that’s why I’m definitely coming back to London, it kicked off my season really well last year, and I’m looking forward to coming back,” he said.
