WAIS-AIS gymnastics world champion Lauren Mitchell has produced a solid campaign at the Paris World Cup to finish fourth in the final on beam.

Mitchell who has overcome some minor injury set backs to compete in the past two world cup events, qualified for the beam apparatus and received a 12.533 scorecard from the judging panel.

Russian star Aliya Mustafina Claimed gold with a score of 14.866, ahead of Romania’s Ana Porgras (13.800) and another Russian in Anna Dementyeva (13.733).

Despite narrowly missing out on a medal in Paris, Mitchell showed she is getting back to full strength and will no doubt take great confidence from the fact she was able to compete to a high standard in just her second major outing for 2011.

Mitchell will continue to build her form ahead of July’s National Championships to be held at Perth’s Challenge Stadium.
