Australia’s women’s K4 500m crew has progressed straight through to the final of their event after finishing in third place in their heat on Monday afternoon.

The crew, featuring West Australian Lisa Oldenhof alongside Hannah Davis, Chantal Meek and Lyndsie Fogarty, completed their race in a time of 1:36.516 to finish just behind Poland in second and Hungary in first.

The powerful Hungary boat posted a time of 1:34.321 while Poland just beat Australia on the line in a time of 1:36.497.

The top three crews in each heat at the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park earned three days off and progressed directly to Friday afternoon’s final.

Australia’s boat will be hoping to improve on their sixth finish from Athens four years ago.
