Edgewater and Wanneroo Primary Schools received special visits this week from Kookaburras captain Jamie Dwyer and Australian Dolphins swimming star Blair Evans to help promote the Go for 2&5 Fruit and Veg Month in September.

The students had the opportunity to listen to Dwyer – a four time World Hockey Player of the Year – talk about his success with the Kookaburras, including Olympic, Commonwealth, World Cup and Champions Trophy gold medals.

WAIS athlete Blair Evans, herself a Commonwealth Games champion, spoke with the school classes about a range of topics including healthy eating, regular exercise as well as giving insight into how she prepares herself for training and competition.

Both schools were treated to a physical activity session led by the Australian representative athletes, with Fruit Salad Tag and the Fruit and Veg Relay both proving big crowd pleasers.

Dwyer and Evans handed out some fruit and vegetable themed giveaways, before leaving behind a special afternoon tea for both schools, with apples, pears, kiwi fruit and carrots all on the menu to kick start a big month of September and the Go for 2&5 Fruit and Veg Month celebrations.

A reminder that Go for 2&5® are teaming up with WAIS again this year to promote physical activity and healthy eating.
