The Australian Olympic Team selection process for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games has completed, with WA set to provide 37 athletes from 16 sports on a team of 409 competitors.*

With all squads now announced and the official countdown at 21 days, the Australian Olympic Team is aiming for a top five medal table finish, with 15 gold medals anticipated to be the target needed to achieve that goal.

Champion sprint cyclist Anna Meares will carry the flag for Australia at the Opening Ceremony, leading a team of athletes that range from 16 year old footballer Ellie Carpenter to 61 year-old equestrian rider Mary Hanna.

The full list of WA athletes for the Rio Olympics follows below, and the Western Australian Institute of Sport will provide daily coverage across the Games (August 5-17), keeping readers up to date with events, news and results from the first Olympics to ever be held in South America.

The squad of 37, contains 25 debutants and three triple Olympians (Beadsworth, Kavanagh, Stanton-French). The WA contribution has a 57% representation towards female athletes, whilst 19% of the group hold regional connections.
