Roberts Competes at Sprint Kayak World Championships

West Australian sprint kayaker Jaime Roberts has finished eighth in the finals of the women’s K2 200 and 1000 events at the 2017 ICF World Championships in the Czech Republic.

Roberts partnered South Australian Cat McArthur with the pair making championship finals in both events they contested.

In the K2 200 – the Australians set the fifth fastest time in their heat, before finishing third in their semi-final to secure a berth in the A Final.

Their time of 39.087 saw them take eighth position overall, with the world title claimed by Hungary, ahead of crews from Italy and Great Britain.

The duo followed a similar path in their 1000m campaign, finishing third in their heat to qualify direct for the final, where they would finish in eighth position.

Hungary again took gold medal honours, with Germany and Poland rounding out the podium.

Roberts and McArthur set a time of 3:49.311.
