Sixth Place Conclusion to Scott’s Paralympic Debut

Madeleine Scott has earned herself a sixth place finish in the SM9 200m Individual medley, on Paralympic competition day four.

Scott entered the final of the SM9 200m Individual Medley as the fourth fastest qualifier in the early hours of Monday morning (WST), earning herself a prime position in the pool, competing from lane six.

Qualifying in a time of 2:38.04, Scott was 0.33 seconds behind her nearest competitor, needing to push hard in order to earn herself a podium finish in the final.

As the final drew closer to the end it was clear that all competitors had stepped it up a notch, shaving considerable amounts of time off of their qualifying times.

Madeleine completed the race in 2:37.65, 0.39 seconds faster than her swim in the heats, earning a sixth place finish.

Also in the pool, day five saw Jeremy McClure compete in the S11 50m Freestyle.

Having previously made it into the final in the S11 100m Backstroke, McClure could not keep up with the fastest swimmers in the freestyle.

He finished his heat in seventh position with a time of 29.61 seconds.

Whilst Madeleine Scott has finished her Paralympic campaign, Jeremy McClure will be competing again on day eight in the S11 100m Freestyle event.
