Stay alert for day 12

It’s crazy how fast the games are flying by! Make sure you watch out for the following W.A.I.S athletes on day 12 of the games.

Lauren Reynolds will be representing her country in the seeding run for women’s BMX today. BMX was only just added as an Olympic sport in 2008 and Reynolds is one of the three Aussies we have in London. Be sure to watch out for this still new sport to the games and the knarly performance from our West Aussie Lauren.

Our men’s water polo Sharks will take on Serbia in the quarterfinals, which will be without a doubt, a thrilling match to watch. The only time I really see water polo on TV is during the Olympics, and I have to say that it’s a sport that must take so much stamina combined with strength and ball skills. It just amazes me how those athletes can get so high out of the water, swim fast and often, and be able to put out and deal with aggressive behaviour in the pool. Go Aussies Go!

And don’t forget our Beijing gold medalist Steve Hooker. One of Australia’s most popular ambassadors for London will jump in the qualifications today so let’s wish him luck. Hooker has overcome many obstacles in his career and I truly admire his determination, perseverance and all the advertising he’s done to promote sport and the games in London. Send your best wishes his way, because dealing and competing under enormous pressure isn’t easy, even though he makes it look so.
