Stephens Makes Senior International Debut

Sidney Stephens has completed her first international competition as a senior gymnast after representing Australia in the Challenge Gymnix meet in Canada.

The 16 year-old hit a number of impressive routines on debut, which included an 11th place ranking on floor.

Across the four apparatus, Stephens earned returns of 13.400 points on vault (for 15th), 10.233 on bars (for equal 29th), 10.533 on beam (for 26th) and 12.450 on floor for an All-Around total of 46.616 which ranked her 26th overall.

The touring Australian squad also provided an opportunity for 12 year-old Western Australian Olena Edmeades who competed in the Junior Cup.

Edmeades and the Australian team finished fourth overall, which also saw the youngster produce some excellent routines on her first international venture.

NCE Perth head coach Coral King was a member of the Australian team coaching staff.
