Stage Two of the Santos Tour Down Under has seen Western Australian cyclist Michael Storer finish in eight place.

The stage began in Stirling where the competitors raced 148.5km through the Adelaide Hills to finish in Paracombe.

Containing one of the toughest climbs of the Tour, the Paracombe climb, Storer executed a strong race to finish just 19 seconds behind race leader, Richie Porte.

Competing in his first professional tour event the 19-year-old cyclist has already made an impression on the field.

Fellow Western Australian Jai Hindley crossed the line in the next group of athletes, recording a 28th place finish.

WA’s Ben O’Connor and Cameron Meyer finished in 39th and 69th place respectively.

Stage Three of the Tour Down Under commenced today in Glenelg at 8:30am WST where cyclists are racing 144km to the coastal town of Victor Harbor.
