Strong Start to Paralympic Career for Scott

Western Australian Paralympic swimmer, Madeleine Scott, has made an excellent start to her Paralympic career finishing in fourth place in the SB9 100m Breaststroke final.

Madeleine began day one of the Paralympics with strong swim in her 100m breaststroke heat, finishing with a time of 1:19.51.

This time made her the fourth fastest qualifier for the final, which was held in the early hours of this morning (WST).

Starting from lane three, Scott powered home narrowly missing out on a podium position.

She finished the race 0:00.92 seconds behind bronze medalist, Chantalle Zijderveld, with a time two seconds faster than her qualifier at 1:17.93.

The SB9 100m Breaststroke final was won by Dutch swimmer, Lisa Kruger in a time of 1:15.49.

Madeleine will next compete in the SM9 200m Individual Medley to be held on competition day four.
