Western Australia will be represented by 30 exceptional athletes when the 2026 Commonwealth Games begin in Glasgow in just 21 days.

Spanning Olympic and Paralympic medallists, world champions and exciting debutants, Team WA showcases strength and diversity, with WA athletes making up 30 of Australia’s 257-strong team. Additionally, the Australian team will be supported by seven Western Australian Institute of Sport staff across coaching, performance support and Team HQ roles.

Leading the charge are pole vaulters Nina Kennedy OAM and Kurtis Marschall, returning to the Commonwealth stage as two of Australia’s most recognisable track and field athletes. In Para Cycling, reigning world champions Kane Perris and Luke Zaccaria will compete together for the first time at a Commonwealth Games in the Men’s Tandem B, marking Zaccaria’s third Games appearance. In able-bodied cycling, Conor Leahy OAM returns as a two-time Birmingham 2022 bronze medallist, joined by Oliver Bleddyn who will make his Commonwealth Games debut, and Liliya Tatarinoff set to debut in the Women’s Sprint.

In the pool, Paris medallist Iona Anderson and emerging talent Inez Miller will make their Commonwealth Games debuts, while Shayna Jack OAM – now based in WA – returns for her third Games. WAIS graduate Alex Saffy will also line up for his second Games in Para Swimming, following his silver medal in the S10 100m Butterfly at Birmingham 2022.

Across athletics, WA talent will be represented by WAIS graduates Declan Tingay and Peter Bol, both silver medallists from Birmingham 2022, competing in the 10,000m walk and 800m respectively.

A strong cohort of debutants highlights the next generation coming through WA’s system. Four judoka will experience their first Commonwealth Games, including siblings Saya and Vas Middleton, joining Keishin Ochi and Maria Swan, while boxer Lekeisha Pergoliti will make her mark in the Women’s 70kg. Oliver Saxton will represent WA in weightlifting, marking his Games debut in the Men’s 94kg

WA continues to lead in Para sport, with representation across multiple disciplines. Para sprinter Rhiannon Clarke will contest her third Games in the T38 100m and 200m, alongside Ella Pardy competing at her fourth Commonwealth Games in the T38 100m.

Rising wheelchair basketballer and WAIS 2025 Young Athlete of the Year Ebony Stevenson will debut alongside Taishar Ovens in Wheelchair Basketball 3×3. In Para Powerlifting, current WAIS scholar Ben Wright will make history in his fourth Games appearance, becoming the first Australian Para powerlifter to reach the milestone.

WA athletes will also feature strongly in team sports. In the men’s Gangurrus, Jesse Wagstaff returns for his third Commonwealth Games following gold and silver medal performances in 2018 and 2022, joined by debutant Jonah Antonio. The women’s Gangurrus includes current WAIS athlete Amy Atwell and WAIS graduate Emma Clarke.

On the netball court, two-time Games veteran Courtney Bruce brings valuable experience, alongside debutant Sophie Garbin.

From experienced campaigners to first-time representatives, this cohort highlights the depth of WA’s high-performance pathways.
