WA Gymnasts Compete at 2018 Aus Champs

Western Australia’s Junior International team has taken fourth place at the 2018 Australian Gymnastics Championships with a series of individual finalists adding further gloss to the state’s campaign in Melbourne.

Grace Barry, Sophie Prince, Clara Kolm and Sophie Mahoney represented WA, combining for a team total of 136.950. The Junior International Team title went to Queensland, with New South Wales and Victoria rounding out the podium.

Clara Kolm was the highest ranked West Australian in the Junior International All Around aggregates, fetching 94.900 for sixth place. Her day two Vault performance accrued her highest apparatus score.

Grace Barry (90.500) and Sophie Mahoney (90.200) took 11thand 12th place respectively.

In the individual apparatus finals, Kolm earned a tie for fourth place in the Beam final. Mahoney was 10th.

Kolm also returned a fifth place effort in the Floor final, with Barry taking ninth.

In the Bars final, Sophie Prince finished eighth, ahead of Barry (ninth), with Kolm tied for 11th.
