WA Quartet Selected for Jillaroos Tri Series Campaign

Published On: 3 October 2019

Four young WA hockey talents have earned selection for
the Jillaroos squad to contest a Tri-Series competition to be hosted in
Canberra in early December.

The Australian U21 team will play matches against New
Zealand and India at the ACT Hockey Centre from December 3-8, with Sara
Foster
, Pippa Morgan, Jolie Sertorio and Karri Somerville all included in the 18-member squad.

The quartet achieved selection after featuring in the WA state
U21 team that collected a bronze medal at the 2019 Championships held in
Lismore last July.

Foster, Morgan and Sertorio were subsequently selected in
the Hockey Australia National Junior Squad for 2019-20, whilst Somerville is a
member of the National Development Squad that underpins the Hockeyroos’ senior international set-up.

Tim White will coach the Jillaroos in the Tri-Series
campaign and said he believes the Australian junior squad will embrace the
opportunity to band together for representative duty.

“We think we have chosen a talented group who, with good
preparation, should come together to be a good unit when we play the Tri-Series
in December,” said White.

“Given the fact that we haven’t had a chance to see the athletes at a selection
event since we announced the National Junior Squad, the group we have selected
for the Tri-Series basically comes from that event.”
