WA track cyclists ready for back to back Track World Cups

Cameron Meyer, Sam Weslford and Matthew Richardson have been selected in the Australian Team for two back to back Track World Cups in December.

Starting this weekend the fourth round of the 2019/20 season heads to Cambridge, New Zealand, before moving to Brisbane a week later, with both forming an important part of the Olympic qualifying process.

Rising sprinter Richardson will join forces with Nathan Hart and Tom Cornish in the team sprint as Australia seeks to secure qualification for Tokyo. Currently seventh in the Olympic qualifying rankings, they need to remain in the top eight to qualify for Tokyo.

Reigning World Champion and World Record Holder Sam Welsford will line up in the team pursuit in his first appearance in the event since winning the world title. Like the team sprint the top eight ranked nations will secure a spot for Tokyo, with Australia currently sitting fourth.

The omnium and Madison will see nine-time World Champion Cameron Meyer in action.
