Western Australian Institute of Sport cyclists Robert Power and Michael Storer have been officially listed as finalists for awards at the 2015 Cycling Australia Awards to be held in Melbourne tomorrow night.

The Oppy Medal as it’s otherwise known, will be highlighted by the Australian Cyclist of the Year Award, whilst various other categories ranging from track, road and mountain bike will be celebrated.

Power has been shortlisted amongst an impressive group for the Rising Star Award. Riding with the Jayco-AIS World Tour Academy squad, Power impressed in 2015, becoming the first Australian to claim victory in the Giro Ciclistico della Valle d’Aosta Mont Blanc.

His efforts have seen him signed up by Australian professional road cycling team, Orica GreenEDGE for 2016 and beyond.

Power is nominated along with Jenelle Crooks, Alex Edmondson and Caleb Ewan.

Michael Storer is in contention for the Junior Men’s Road Cyclist of the Year prize, highlighting another successful campaign for the second year junior that saw him claim an Oceania title and compete at the UCI Road World Championships in the USA.

Storer is nominated along with Samuel Jenner and Harry Sweeny.

The popular event will also crown the People’s Choice award, enter new members to the Cycling Australia Hall of Fame and review the National Road Series.
