London Olympian Emily Little has completed a successful return to elite gymnastics after earning selection for the Australian women’s artistic team for this year’s World Championships in Glasgow.

The 21 year-old is part of a seven-strong squad set to travel for Australia, with the selection marking Little’s first major team since her return to the sport following retirement post London Games.

The powerful all-rounder is joined in the squad by Georgia Rose-Brown, Georgia Godwin, Madelaine Leydin, Larrissa Miller, Mary-Anne Monckton and Kiara Munteanu.

Little was a non travelling reserve for last year’s Glasgow Commonwealth Games, despite having only return to full training for a handful of months. Her progress since has seen her return to elite levels, which included a national title at this year’s Australian Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne.

The Australian team is targeting Olympic qualification at the World Championships in Scotland, with a top eight finish required to guarantee a spot in Rio.

Countries ranked ninth to 16th at this year’s World titles will earn invitation to the Rio Test event, with the top four nations at the test event to complete the 12 nation roster for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

The Championships run from October 23 – November 1, and will take place at the same venue that hosted the gymnastics events at last year’s Commonwealth Games.
