14 year-old WAIS gymnast Paige James will receive the opportunity of a lifetime after being named as one of five Australian athletes to be included in the Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship and Mentor Program for 2015.

James will receive mentorship from Australian Olympic immortal Cathy Freeman, providing her with guidance and insight as she builds towards her future sporting goals, including attempting to make the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Freeman – whose efforts in winning gold in the women’s 400m at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games – said she was delighted to play a supporting role in James’ future endeavours.

“I’m truly thrilled and excited to have the opportunity to play a mentoring role to Paige James. I thank Sport Australia Hall of Fame for inviting me to be a part of this special role in which I aspire to assist Paige by being a support to her as she moves towards her personal sporting goals,” she said.
