WAIS gymnasts face a busy schedule in March as they step up their preparations for the Beijing Games.

The Friendship Classic (15-16 March) is the first event on the calendar, with both Dasha Joura and Lauren Mitchell competing in the event hosted in Pennsylvania, USA. It is hosted by the Pottsville Gymnastic Training Centre under the direction of Sandy Kost-Sterner and Barbara Kost-Lonergan and has gained international exposure due to the amount of countries and the calibre of gymnasts involved. WAIS Gymnastics Coach Martine George will travel with the girls.

Over the same weekend WAIS gymnasts Olivia Vivian, Emily Little and Tain Molendijk will travel to Sacramento, California for the prestigious invitational Golden State Classic. WAIS Coach Nikolai Lapchine will travel with the group during the March 15-17 event.

Darsha Joura and Lauren Mitchell will again represent Australia and WAIS at the Pacific Alliance Championships in San Jose, California on 28-30 March. They will join WAIS juniors Tain Molendijk and Emily Little in the six member team consisting of three seniors and three juniors, of which WAIS contributes an impressive 66 percent of the squad. WAIS coach Martine George is attending this event with the girls with up to 14 countries competing, including Australia, USA, Canada, Russia, Japan, China, Korea, New Zealand, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, Mexico, Philippines & Hong Kong.
