WAIS Individual Athlete Support Program scholarship holders have been flying the WAIS flag proudly around the globe in the last week, with a series of impressive results.

Rhythmic gymnastic pair Janine Murray and Chloe Hayes both represented Australia recently at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Mie, Japan.

Murray captured an 82nd position finish in the all-around category, whilst Hayes was slightly further back in 91st.

The next major competition for the team will be the Pacific Rim championships, to be hosted by Gymnastics Australia in Melbourne in April 2010.

WAIS Paralympian and Athens 2004 silver medallist Claire McLean has won a bronze medal at the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships in Bogogno, Italy.

McLean showed her customary power in riding a quick time to collect bronze in the individual time trial at the championships, with the 36 year-old to also compete in the road race in Italy.

WAIS taekwondo athlete Catherine Dawson produced a fantastic effort to collect silver in the junior division at the British Open Taekwondo Championships. Dawson also competed in the senior division where she was defeated by the eventual bronze medallist.
