The Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) has launched its refreshed 2025–2032 Strategic Plan, setting a bold vision for the future of high-performance sport in Western Australia.
Looking ahead to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games, LA28 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the strategy recognises a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a lasting legacy for WA. Not just in sport, but socially, economically and diplomatically.
At the heart of the plan is a clear purpose: to support Western Australian athletes to Win Well at the Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games.
WAIS Chief Executive Officer, Matt Fulton, said the plan provided a strong foundation to deliver long-term success.
“This is an ambitious roadmap for WAIS and Western Australian sport. If we can unite behind the vision of achieving our best Games ever in Brisbane 2032, we can create a legacy that will inspire generations to come,” Mr Fulton said.
The strategy is built around three key pillars:
Athletes Winning Well – supporting WA athletes to strive for podium success while safeguarding their wellbeing.
People and Culture – building a values-driven, supportive environment that empowers both athletes and staff to thrive.
Organisational Sustainability – ensuring WAIS remains well-governed, financially stable, and connected to its partners and community.
WAIS’s new organisational values – United, Care, Lead, Inspire – were co-created with staff and underpin the culture that will drive the organisation forward.
With over 40 years of success supporting Western Australian athletes to achieve their goals, WAIS’s new plan lays the groundwork for the decade ahead, ensuring athletes are not only winning, but winning well.
