Operating in partnership with BWA and BA, the WAIS Women’s Basketball Program’s aim is to enhance the pathway of elite women’s basketball athletes in Western Australia to our national teams.

The program will provide a world class daily training environment out of the WAIS High Performance Service Centre, with additional facilities at HBF Stadium and Bendat Basketball Centre in the Mount Claremont Sporting Precinct.

Part of the WAIS National Performance Enhancement Team, scholarship athletes will have access to expert coaching and support services including medical, nutrition, wellbeing, physical preparation, physiotherapy and psychology.

Steve Lawrence, WAIS Chief Executive said, “We are excited to develop our existing relationship with Basketball Australia and Basketball WA further. This new program presents a fantastic opportunity to further strengthen the local high performance pathway for talented WA Basketball athletes striving to represent Australia on the international stage.”

Rob Clement, Basketball Western Australia Chief Executive said, “Basketball WA has had a long standing positive relationship with WAIS and are excited about this new opportunity that will continue to build on the pathways within Western Australia for female athletes.

“We are committed to offering Western Australian female players the opportunity to achieve their basketball goals, with designated support to continue to develop our high performing athletes.”

WAIS has today also commenced an extensive recruitment process for a Head Coach, with the intention for the program to commence in August.
