Robyn Van Nus

Western Australian Institute of Sport athlete Robyn Van Nus has today been officially selected by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) into the 17 member shooting team for London.

Van Nus will compete in the 10m Air Rifle and 50m 3 position events at London’s Royal Artillery Barracks and will become a dual Olympian, having also contested the same events at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The Attadale born sharp-shooter has been based in NSW for the past eight years, and is coached by her mother Tricia Van Nus. She initially took up shooting to help overcome an earlier bout of chronic fatigue syndrome.

The 17-strong shooting squad contains six Olympic medallists, and will be headlined by gold medal winners Russell Mark and Michael Diamond – who will both represent Australia at Olympic level for the sixth time.

The Olympic shooting events begin on the first day of competition (July 28) in London and run through til day 10 (August 8).

Van Nus’ selection has taken WA’s numbers for the London Olympics up to 16.
