The Western Australian Institute of Sport is proud to unveil its new website, designed to enhance the professionalism and scope of its key communication tool.

The Institute’s online home has been highlighted by a new layout that reflects the organisation’s corporate identity, whilst also providing a greater connection to its high performance athlete talent.

Digital cosmetics notwithstanding, the communication tool now provides a direct link to WAIS social media channels through live-feeds for both Twitter and Instagram, whilst the operating platform is connected for tablet and smart phone devices, a feature that WAIS Executive Director, Steve Lawrence, believes demonstrates the WA Institute of Sport’s shift to source the changing face of digital news and content.

“We’re really pleased to have launched the new website design, one that we feel strongly reflects the look and feel of WAIS, but similarly, one that also represents our commitment to providing timely and relevant communication to our stakeholders and supporters,” he said.

“Apart from the more obvious aesthetic improvements of the website redesign, it is now provided on a platform that is fully compatible with both tablet and smart phone devices, which will allow us provide a greatly improved communication service. Given that over 30% of our website traffic was accessing information from WAIS via such devices, we felt that it was an obligation to better service this interest.”

As the countdown to the 2016 Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games draws nearer, the website re-design represents one stage of the Institute’s plans to source news direct to followers, both in the lead up and during to and during the Games, with WAIS set to provide daily updates to stakeholders via an online newsletter service, sent straight to inboxes, whilst content will also be shared via its social media suite.

“We really hope that the improvements to the WAIS website will allow West Australians to feel strongly connected to the home grown Olympic and Paralympic athletes competing for Australia in Rio. We’re very proud of the work that WAIS provides to support our high performance athletes, and it naturally follows that we’re very keen to provide a communication tool that reflects that commitment during our peak event in terms of athlete performance,” Lawrence said.
