Wheelcats Claim Fifth Straight Title

The Perth Wheelcats must be feeling some sort of déj√† vu after yet again rewriting the NWBL history books, winning another NWBL grand final. This is their fifth consecutive NWBL championship since 2006, setting a new league record.

The Perth Wheelcats were unbeaten all season and went into the final as favourites and they didn’t disappoint.

The 2010 NBWL Grand Final was played on Sunday in Wollongong where The Perth Wheelcats played the Wollongong Roller Hawks beating them 101-81. The game was neck and neck being 20 all at the end of the first quarter.

At half time The Wheelcats had a small lead of three points but they improved this at the next break increasing it to 11 points. They thenbrought it home strong in the last quarter scoring 32 points to the Roller Hawks unanswered 23 points.

Western Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder Shaun Norris has had a tremendous season and again he didn’t let down his team or his state. He played a great gamescoring a massive 43 points, 15 assists and a total of 12 rebounds. In addition to this Norris won Midpoint MVP, Overall MVP and Finals MVP.

WAIS athlete Justin Eveson also played well scoring 11 points, 22 total rebounds, and nine assists. Eveson also won the High point MVP.

Robert Pike and Nick Radovich also helped seal the 20 point victory scoring 18 and 15 points respectively. This was Lee Nott’s first year as head coach and he has done an astounding job.
