WAIS wheelchair basketball athletes Justin Eveson, Brad Ness and Shaun Norris all starred for their club sides in the recent European Champions Cup.

Eveson playing for Turkish side Galatasary lifted the trophy after his side defeated German powerhouse outfit, Lahn Dil 61-53. Eveson hit 21 points and 17 rebounds in a commanding display.

Eveson’s dominance didn’t go un-noticed by officials with the star awarded the title of finals MVP as well as representation on the All-star Five selection.

A look at his statistics makes it clear why he is considered one the great basketball products of this country. Eveson tallied five consecutive double doubles (points and rebounds in a game) including monster games of 35 points and 14 rebounds, 26 points and 20 rebounds and 19 points and 13 rebounds against CS Meaux (France), CD Fundose (Spain) and Hyeres Handi-Club (France) respectively.

Eveson finished the tournament with 116 points (23.2 per game), 77 rebounds (15.4 per game) and 18 assists (3.6 per game).

Eveson’s Perth Wheelcats teammates Brad Ness and Shaun Norris also played leading roles in the tournament for their club Taranto (Italy).

Norris finished as the tournaments leading scorer, amassing 134 points at 28.6 per game which included netting 40 points against CS Meaux in the third place playoff while Ness maintained his standing as one of the leading wheelchair basketballers in the world, also tallying five straight double-doubles. Ness posted 93 points and 73 rebounds to average an amazing 18.6 points and 14.6 rebounds per game.

With the talented trio in top form and a new season on the horizon, the Perth Wheelcats would be heavily fancied to add a third straight title to its already glittering trophy cabinet.
