Worth Helps Australia to Team Quarter Finals

Western Australian Taylor Worth has shot the 14th highest score in the ranking round of the men’s archery, to help Australia to a fourth place ranking and direct qualification through to the team quarter finals.

Worth, competing with Alec Potts and Ryan Tyack helped Australia to a score of 2005 points after 72 arrows, which saw the Aussies rank fourth behind Korea (2057), USA (2024) and Italy (2007) and avoid the qualification round.

Australia will resume its team campaign on Saturday, with the country looking to earn its first team medal in Olympic history.

In finishing 14th with a score of 674, Worth will now face Ahmed El-Nemir of Egypt in the first round of the individual elimination matchplay rounds.

Korea topped the team rankings, with Kim Woojin shooting a world record score of 700.

WA archer Alice Ingley contested her individual ranking round later on Friday, Brazilian time, finishing 58th overall, after shooting a score of 593 from her 72 arrows.

Ingley will now face Italian archer Lucilla Boari – who shot 651 for a seventh placed ranking.
