In alignment with Paddle Australia and Paddle WA, WAIS operates a daily training environment for canoe sprint and para canoe, while also supporting slalom athletes with individual athlete scholarships.
WAIS offers the opportunity for athletes to gain Canoeing Scholarships by achieving the selection criteria outlined in the Selection Guidelines, Criteria and Process.
Part of the National Performance Team the program employs a Head Coach and a part time Paracanoe and Pathway Coach with support from the Podium Performance Enhancement Team under the leadership of the Performance Enhancement Team Director – National.
Scholarship athletes have access to coaching and the Performance Enhancement Team covering strength and conditioning and sport science and sports medicine services – physiology, psychology, biomechanics, sports nutrition and physiotherapy and support outside of sport through athlete wellbeing and engagement.
